Dear Collabers, Ingo Maurer, one of our Design Excellence Award Honorees has passed on at the age of 87. A German industrial designer who specialized in the design of the most inventive whimsical lighting and installations was our honoree in 2002. His installation of Porca Miseria! exhibited in the French Period Room in the Main Building, remains, in my mind one of the most memorable. I recall his lecture at the old Van Pelt, and how he mesmerized the audience with his work a...nd his charm, followed by a fabulous party at Bahdeebahdu (studio of lighting sculptor Warren Muller) on Cherry Street. As I reflect on the past 32 years of honorees, I am moved by the fact that we have had the honor of being in the presence of such geniuses and will continue, through our work, to be in the company of the next generation of greats. --Eileen Tognini, Collab Chair
