Visitors today at the historical society. Seth Ford and Liston Bochette
This wonderful couple (the Creelmans) came in to the LYH today to donate this beautiful quilt made by Dorothy Higbie. Maggie Higbie Creelman told us that her mother was a master quilter and spent many hours on this painstakingly detailed quilt. Maggie also gave us the magazine article showing the quilt as it was displayed on the banyan tree at Edison's laboratory.
Donated by Johnny Jones. His father had the barber shop on Broadway between First St and Main St. Thank you Ralph Ireland for dropping this off and Larry Johnston for hanging it up.

Very sadly the Pioneer Picnic this year has been cancelled. Thank you Cyndi L. Hendry for keeping us informed.
After going thru boxes of photos, letters and papers from Arcadia, historical society members Larry Johnson and Genevieve Bowen came across this old Fort Myers photo! Jim & Jerry Saloon was owned by J W Sewell. By 1908 the newspaper reported: A H Billings has opened a shooting gallery and cool drink stand in the building formerly occupied by Jim and Jerry Saloon. J W Sewell was married to Virgie Sewell and it appears they did not stay in Fort Myers long after that.
Look who stopped in the historical society today! Todd Truax candidate for Lee County
