Wishing a very Merry Christmas to all from BCLM It's time to settle in by the fire for another reading from Charles Dickens, who tells us of the transformation of Scrooge.
We'd like to say a big heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for a visit to outdoor opening during December, and for all of your continued support! We can't wait to welcome you all back in 2021.
Step in and take a moment to enjoy the festive atmosphere of the cobbled street

On the night of Nov 19th 1940, the Black Country suffered its worst attack of the Blitz, becoming known as "The Worst Night". Many heroes on the ground raced to aid those affected, including 14 year old Miss Charity Bick. Her heroism was rewarded with a George Medal.
Yow cor go wrong with a bag of Black Country suck! Here, Researcher Jenny gives us a brief history of sweets and some of the famous names associated with this sweet treat

They say that, if a miner loses his life down the pit, it's not safe to go back down there until he's been laid to rest... just in case his spirit is still haunting the place! And he might not be the only thing plaguing the pit...
It'll be okay in the end, and if it ay, then it ay the end, is it?

On this day 10 years ago, a lifesize replica of the Titanic Anchor arrived at the Museum. Did you pose for a photo with the enormous anchor? The replica was made as part of a Channel 4 Documentary which relived the journey of the Black Country folk who made the anchor and then compared their ingenuity against that of modern day technology. It was on display at our Museum for a year and now permanently resides in Netherton, the town where the original anchor was made at Noah Hingley & Sons.
We’re both delighted and incredibly grateful to have received a grant from the Government’s #CultureRecoveryFund This support of 2.56m will play a vital role in helping us to remain open, be here for our community and to continue our work in celebrating the legacy of the Black Country for future generations. With this support we can be #HereForCulture More info https://bit.ly/2IUkrOY... With sincere thanks to Arts Council England and Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport

30 years ago today, this 1840s tilted cottage, was taken down brick by brick from Cooper’s Bank, Gornal Wood, preserved and relocated to our Museum. Its crooked appearance is a characteristic feature of the Black Country landscape and was caused by subsidence as coal was dug from the mines beneath. #ThrowbackThursday
There's nothing like discovering little hidden nooks around the museum, like this view of '30s street from the bakery coal yard
Ever peeked inside one of our narrowboats? There's a gloriously colourful world going on inside our 1915 'Peacock'. It could legally house a family of four, so can anyone guess why they have so many plates? (The answer is actually really interesting!)
1930s Vs now. Bringing #ThrowbackThursdays to life everyday is what we do best. These buildings were moved from Birmingham Street, Oldbury to our Museum 10 years ago and our team carefully worked to take the whole street back to how it would've looked in the 1930s.
#Throwback Have you watched a silent movie at our Museum? Take a look at the impressive restoration that the Museum's team did 25years ago on the Limelight Cinema building. The cinema was originally located at Harts Hill, Brierley Hill from 1921.
