Enjoy the picture, then look at the actual artifact! This picture of Marie Raupp is from 1909. The bonnet she is wearing is part of the Raupp Museum's collections, and is one of the many artifacts that you will see on our Opening the Blue Box #2 collections tour video. One artistic note... The video is a little fuzzy for the first 27 seconds, so feel free to fast forward; but, after that it clears up, we promise. To enjoy the video, click here:https://www.youtube.com/watch

Take a break for Art! Usually, the Raupp Museum would be hosting our annual Everybody's Got a Gift art show in December. While current guidelines mean the museum can't welcome visitors, three longtime contributors were kind enough to loan paintings so that we could create a virtual mini-show. Enjoy!

Take a sneak peek into our archives! Each week we will feature a few lines of an old cashbook from 1895, where a local farmer recorded his income and expenses. Below are the first three lines: "Jan. 10 - 6 Geese, 60 lb, $.10 = $6.00 income. 9 Hogs, weight 1636 lb = $81.30 income. Jan. 11 Watch repairing = $2.20 expense." Do any of the prices surprise you?

Let it snow! The Artifact of the Week is a pair of men's skates by the Nestor Johnson Manufacturing Company of Chicago. Johnson was a Norwegian immigrant who came to Chicago in 1887. He was a competitive speed skater and bicycle mechanic who eventually combined his passion and his skill to create his skate manufacturing company. The company was in business from 1908-1977. Join us for a tour on Tuesday! Tomorrow at 1 pm, the museum will host our second behind-the-scenes tour, as our registrar Marina opens up a collections box to show all of the artifacts inside. Join us on Zoom to watch the video, and have a discussion with Marina afterwards. Can't make it on Tuesday? The video will be posted to YouTube after Tuesday; and, we will share the link then. Here's the Zoom invitation: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89297052581
