A WWII M-1 Garand bayonet with brass knuckles. This altered weapon was carried on D-Day by Thomas Mulhollad of he 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne. Mulholland was a parachute rigger. Parachute riggers packed and maintained parachutes and also equipment, they came up with creative alterations for equipment. Note the scabbard is also very altered and his name and service number on the friction tape. Here is a great examples of what a good rigger could do. On exhibit at The Gettysburg Museum of History. A piece of the couch Adolf Hitler killed himself on, stained with his blood. The piece of the couch was taken by United States Army Colonel Roswell P. Rosengren, who served during most of the Second World War as Public Information Officer for General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. After Hitler’s suicide, Rosengren and a few fellow American officers were let into the infamous bunker by the Soviet forces, which controlled that portion of Berlin. Rosengren used the opportunity to take a section of the couch, along with a few other items from the bunker.
