This community of museum folks continues to inspire. Thanks for letting us serve AK and please let us know how we can be better. And if you are looking for a worthwhile place for a donation this season, consider this organization.
Proud to say that Tin Can Country, a book we designed for the Clausen Museum with Anjuli Grantham has been honorably mentioned by American Alliance of Museums in their 2020 Museum Publications Design competition. And special thanks to Karen Hofstad who championed the publishing of this book, provided access to her beautiful salmon can labels, and made me enter this competition.
Check out the exhibit Alaska’s Suffrage Star, traveling throughout the state, but online at ASM. https://lam.alaska.gov/suffrage-star These costumes are amazing Juneau-Douglas City Museum Alaska State Museum and Juneau Public Libraries. And vote!
Happy to help support local artist Lily Hope and the Alaska State Museum collect an important piece to note this time in history. The Friends of the Alaska State Library, Archives, and Museum Group need more donations--any amount from $5 to $50 to $500!
Working with Jackie and Aaron at the Alaska State Museum to do a brown paper layout for the artwork for #illustratingalaska , our upcoming show about the process of illustrating children’s books. These sketches and finals show Jim Fowler‘s process, and we are also working with Mitchell Watley, Michaela Goade and Evon Zerbetz. Super excited about this show, opening in February and traveling around the state. Let us know if your community needs to host it! We are also working on a companion pop-up exhibit that can go to libraries, schools, community centers, etc. #museumsalaska #akmuseums #akmuseumsmatter #childrensbookillustration #kidsbooks #alaskaart #alaskaartist
