Let's see what's in store here! Only at LITHE HOUSE.
Throwback to when we were housed at Aliwal Street. MOIM first opened its doors on 1st May 2015 but moved to Little India in 2017. Most of the artefacts at Madras Street have now been stored to make way for a new project by Lithe House. As such we will no longer showcase physical artefacts and memorabilia beginning August 2019. They will, however, be kept dormant until a great opportunity arise.
Fight turtle museum, fight! Local hangouts FTW.
Hong Kong music publication New Ears Music interviewed us about the Museum of Independent Music, Singapore. Thanks to Rocky Sum for reaching out to us!
"You should control the crowd that’s making noise. Maybe don’t serve alcohol at these establishments. But don’t control the bands and the licenses." "Sometimes the people who get the grants are not those who necessarily deserve it, but those who are really clever at filling up forms. "Sometimes the best performances happen in an empty jazz club late at night when there are only six people listening to you."... Amazing how these quotes from jazz maestro Jeremy Monteiro relate to the local music scene in general. Truth be told!
"Local recognition is predicated on external validation"... PRECISELY!
