How's this for timing? Restoration of our 1st release UK Quad for Irving Berlin's 1954 'White Christmas' has just been completed. I can't praise the skills of Roger Jeffrey of Studio C in California enough and the rather sad looking before shot certainly highlights his abilities, with the tape/water stains, tears and paper loss now a distant memory! Although the chance of a White Christmas in (mid Summer) New Zealand is never going to happen, this does make me want to head n...orth (post Covid) and spend at least one more Christmas building a snowman and curling up by a log fire (as opposed to putting on factor 50 sun block and firing up the BBQ!). As I'm sure we're all going to be busy these next couple of weeks, I'd like to wish all of you (our supporters and friends) a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Stay safe and I hope Santa brings you what you really want (not just a vaccine!). #whitechristmas #bingcrosby #dannykaye #rosemaryclooney #veraallen #merrychristmas #quadposter #filmposter #movieposter #artgalley #newzealand

Although in need of some TLC (which will certainly happen in due course), we are incredibly happy to finally add a 1984 UK Quad poster of UTU to our collection. Directed by the great Geoff Murphy (Goodbye Pork Pie/The Quiet Earth) and with stong performances by Anzac Wallace and Bruno Lawrence, this 80’s portrayal of the New Zealand land wars is one of our film industries greatest achievements and this powerful image of Anzac Wallace (Te Wheke) tearing the Union Jack is in our opinion the best piece of advertising artwork (globally) that was commissioned for this production. #geoffmurphy #anzacwallace #brunolawrence #utu #landwars #newzealand #aotearoa #filmposter #movieposter

I regularly get contacted by fans of a particular actor/actress or even a genre or franchise. However I occasionally get asked to help those who focus all of their energy (and finances) on a single title. This is the case with a German friend of mine, who is absolutely obsessed with the 1983 Australian teen movie BMX Bandits. The story sees a young Nicole Kidman (who is part of a trio of BMX bikers) becoming entangled with a group of bank robbers after discovering their cach...e of walkie-talkies. After helping him with a few more bits today, I thought some of you who are fond of all that is the 80's, may like to see some of his collection. Which not only consists of many international poster variations (more than those on display), but also a vast array of screen used props, some replicas and of course BMX's. Enjoy! #bmx #bmxbandits #nicholkidman #80s #briantrenchardsmith #filmposter #movieposter #christchurch #gallery

Soon to be up on our wall is this rather stunning 1954 Creature From The Black Lagoon Australian daybill, which was printed for NZ use with no Australian rating. This one has a rather subtle and very much unique NZ rating/warning stamp added, which also notes that this is a Horror film, in case anyone mistook it for a diving documentary! Many of the daybills used for 'Black Lagoon' in NZ were rather butchered, with the Universal logo painted over and additional GY rating an...d 3-D text added elsewhere. So with that in mind I'm very glad that ours are of the 'clean' rare variety . #creaturefromtheblacklagoon #horrorfilm #scifi #filmposter #movieposter #daybillposter #art #gallery #newzealand

Although a 1950's Australian re-release poster, it's still nice to get such a charming portrait of 'the boys' up on the wall. Bonnie Scotland was originally released in 1935, a time when Laurel & Hardy were at the height of their fame. They officially became a team in 1927, when they appeared together in the silent short film 'Putting Pants on Philip'.... #laurelandhardy #bonniescotland #filmposter #movieposter #gallery #newzealand #sonsofthedesert

Our 1939 Charlie Chan In Reno Daybill is currently undergoing restoration at the skilled hands of Roger Jeffery of Studio C in California and this progress shot certainly highlights his abilities, with the tape stains, tears and paper loss now a distant memory. Our two 1940's Donald Duck daybills will be amongst many to head over to him for some TLC in the near future. #charliechan #donaldduck #waltdisney #linenbacking #filmposter #movieposter #cartoon #gallery #NewZealand

Posters on display in our home gallery are often titles that played a part in my own childhood. So I thought it was about time to display one that resonates with my wife. This 1978 Grease US One Sheet is referred to as a 'teaser', which was produced prior to the general release/dated posters that featured photographic portraits of John/Olivia and personally I much prefer it. Watching Grease recently, it was amusing to think old these high school students actually were, as S...tockard Channing (Rizzo) was 33, John Travolta (Danny) was 23, Jeff Conaway (Kenickie) was 26 and Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) turned 29 during filming. #grease #olivianewtonjohn #johntravolta #greaselightning #movieposter #filmposter #gallery

Another wall of our visitor toilet now suitably jazzed up with a varied collection of Lobby Cards. Lobby cards are a great alternative to movie posters as their size (1114 inches) is the same as a standard ‘off the shelf’ photo frame, therefore you can easily display them at a very low cost. Being out of direct sunlight, ours are in fact displayed in cheap $8 'Warehouse' frames. As well as featuring key scenes from the film, often they also include elements of the poster ar...twork or iconic title designs (see Top Gun or Back To The Future etc.) We have an ever growing selection of spare lobby cards (singles and full sets) on our website here - https://www.filmpostergallery.co.nz//f/lobby-card-11-x-14/ #lobbycard #movies #films #zulu #filmposter #movieposter #nzfilm #gallery #starwars #topgun #raidersofthelostark #CleopatraJones
