Its a New Year!!! the Allen Heritage Guild is starting the year off January 6, 2021, 6:30pm at the Depot in downtown Allen--100 E. Main St---with a fabulous program on Railway Postal Services. Speaker, Karla Warborg's father was in charge in Dennison, Tx. Visit with the Guild and hear the fascinating story! Free and open to the public! The Allen Heritage Guild invites you to support the history of Allen, Texas by making a "year-end" donation. Send a $1 or $2 or $$$more times the number of years you have lived in Allen!! Let's see who has lived here the longest and still supports the AHG!!! Money from the donation will go to work on the restoration of the locomotive at the Depot downtown. $$$Will also help with the restoration of the Farmhouse at the Allen Heritage Village. History is alive and well in Allen. Merry Christmas!!

Today we honor... Aenard Ann Compton (1890 1918) - A graduate of Allen High School, Ann attended Baylor University and became a teacher and high school prin...cipal. She left the teaching profession to become a nurse with the Army Nurse Corps during World War I. While working in an Army hospital in Washington DC, Ann died from the results of pneumonia and influenza at age 28 on October 6, 1918. In addition to being the only servicewoman from Collin County to die in service to our nation, Ann is the only servicewoman from Texas to die in the Great War (WWI). She is buried in Allen Cemetery. The Allen Heritage Guild usually hosts a FLAG DAY Celebration on June 14 or date close, this year with Covid-19 we cannot. However, the American Flags fly proudly at the Heritage Village. Plan to visit when the historic buildings reopen. GOD Bless America!

The concrete support bed has been poured and is curing to support the steam locomotive that will be placed at the Allen Heritage Center (Depot) later this summer!!! Looking forward to sharing more Allen, Texas history with the community!! Thank you City of Allen for helping to preserve our train history!

The Allen Heritage Guild has 2 beautiful historic churches that are great locations for weddings! Allen Christian has stained glass so beautiful a bride will "glow" and St. Mary is romantic and intimate. Check the Guild website for info: allenheritage.org
