We are thrilled to introduce the third part of our The Art of Gathering virtual event, Pacific Northwest Ballet Principal Dancer Lucien Postlewaite. Postlewaite, the creator of @batch.bag, will guide us through his recipe for a delicious mocktail or cocktail online as part of The Art of Gathering on December 3rd. Meet this talented man: Lucien joined Pacific Northwest Ballet nearly 20 years ago and was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2008. That same year he was awarded the pr...estigious Princess Grace Award for Dance. In 2012, Lucien joined Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo where he spent the next five years touring the world. In 2017, he re-joined PNB. As part of his own healthy lifestyle, Lucien crafts kombucha with a focus on an international palate and attention to detail. After more than 7 years refining his style, Lucien founded THE BATCH Kombucha in 2020. THE BATCH signature releases are limited and use hand-picked teas and the highest quality ingredients. The unique flavors invite you to celebrate the beauty of their simple infusions and are the perfect accompaniment on the journey to your happiest self. Virginia Jinny Wright played a pivotal role in the cultural development of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Along with her husband Bagley, Jinny (as friends called her) wanted to make Seattle and the Northwest a premier venue for the arts, generously supporting numerous cultural institutions including Seattle Art Museum. The upcoming exhibition, City of Tomorrow tells the story of the future-focused initiatives spearheaded by Virginia Wright. Landmark modern and contemp...orary paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs from the illustrious Wright collection are complemented by historical ephemera that trace formative moments and initiatives, including the organization of the Contemporary Arts Council that brought major contemporary exhibitions to the Fine Arts Pavilion in the 1960s before SAM had a department of modern and contemporary art. This special exhibition will be open at SAM from October 23, 2020 to January 18, 2021. Don’t miss this amazing part of Seattle’s art history. Seattle Art Museum Supporters has kicked off our 2020-21 year! President Andrea Watson welcomed us to a new and unprecedented season with a membership wide ZOOM meeting on Wednesday. We had the great privilege of listening and learning from our guest artist speaker, Barbara Earl Thomas and Seattle Art Museum Curator of Modern Art, Catharina Manchanda. Barbara Earl Thomas spoke of her upcoming exhibition at SAM, The Geography of Innocence. Barbara began her talk with the... image, pictured, of Grace, 2019, cut paper and hand-printed color. She then said, What do I want? I want for our children because they are going to have to grapple with what we leave them." The Grace piece was inspired by the Don’t Shoot campaign. Barbara changed the words don’t shoot" to Grace because in her words, "I wanted Grace because it is in the moment of Grace we can pause and reconsider so it will change an outcome. Photo by Spike Mafford courtesy of Seattle Art Museum. Thank you also to Koko Corbin and Malei Young for the amazing work on bringing us together in our first live virtual brunch. . . #samsupporters #seattleartmuseum #barbaraearlthomas #grace #supportthearts #localartists #seattleartist #seattleartmuseumsupporters #whatwelove See more
