The restoration volunteers have been studying corrosion they have observed on the wing tip tanks of the F9F. You can’t just buy replacement parts for the Panther. Today they made an opening in the tank to discover at least 2 trash bags of grass and bird feathers which have probably been in those tanks since before AHP transported the artifact from Minnesota in 2008.
Gratitude and kudos to John Fleck, AHP’s official photographer. His longtime friendship with Dan Cherry brings him to visit BG frequently where he’s provided an outstanding visual collection of the park’s historical aircraft and heroes who flew them.
