What is Women's Suffrage? What is the Justice Bell? What part did York play in women's voting rights? The 2020 Journal of York County Heritage is now available for purchase through the Gift Shop and Online Store. The United States ratified the Nineteenth Amendment 100 years ago, granting women the right to vote. In the 2020 issue of the Journal of York County Heritage, June Burk Lloyd examines the women’s suffrage campaign in York County in 1914-15, and Jane S. Sutton explores the use of sewing machine postal cards in opposing women’s voting rights. David A. Latzko recounts the history of the marketing of sewing machines, a key early labor-saving consumer appliance, in York. You can complete the road rally in as little as 2.5 hours or choose to make a day of it by getting out and exploring each stop.
